TheaterJugendClub on a visit at Izola

Since 2002 there is a sister-city arrangement between Treptow-Köpenick and Izola, Slovenia. This year, for the first time, the TheaterJugendClub of the "Stadttheater Cöpenick" took part in the Izola community day on the 10th of July. Nine young actors and technicians enchanted everybody with their brilliant performance on Manzioli square. Despite the language challenge you could understand the production because of the fabulous non-verbal notation. At the end of the evening, the TheaterJugendClub "set the house on fire". After the play some highly interested ladies and gentlemen had a conversation with the young actors and the director Mr. Müller.

Shown was the psycho-drama "Die Erpressung" ("The blackmail") based on the play "Liebe Jelena Sergejewna" written by Russian authoress Ljudmila Rasumoswkaja. The key aspect is actually the blackmail, but behind the scene the mind game of the students shows the essentially conflict between two different lifestyles. Jelena Sergejewna grew up with a strong belief in nation. The four students are different, they believe in the power of money and the law of the jungle. Two generations and two different perspectives collide.

Authoress Ljudmila Rasumoswkaja (born in 1946) is one of the main Russian dramatists of our time. Her ruthless candor about the Soviet youth had made her to a victim of censor-ship. As a result, Rasumoswkajas most important play "Liebe Jelena Sergejewna" was drop in 1982. After takeover by Gorbatschow, the play was entirely successful.
