2012: European year of active ageing

2012 is the European year of active ageing and solidarity between the generations. It creates a good opportunity to think about the fact, that the Europeans live longer and more healthy than ever before and realize the ensuing advantages.

The baby-boom generation and the elderly population of tomorrow obtain the chance,
to be part of the working life for longer
to pass on their experiences to others
to take an active part of the social life for additional years
to live a more healthy and satisfied life

Active ageing is also a key for the preservation of solidarity between the generations, especially in a society with more and more elderly peoples. The possibility of active ageing in general and for a independent live at an advantage age will may be a challenge. You have to take care for different issues like health care, social services, voluntary activities, housing and IT-services.

The European year 2012 should promote a healthy ageing for become a society without social isolation and loneliness. Goals are a modified and lasting understanding of active ageing and the support of the social cohesion. For these reasons, the European year is addressed to public administration, to social partners and civil society.
