ConAct Europe I - III
As it is necessary to qualify employees in international projects, intercultural competence and foreign languages, the Treptow-Köpenick borough participated in two projects: ConAct Europe I - Preparation of administrative staff of Berlin in transnational work and ConAct Europe II- Qualification of administrative staff for increasing Europe-related competence. The target is a qualification of the administrative staff through a three-month internship that included a language course. The understanding of European relations can be improved through the understanding of the workflow and cultural background in different administrative departments and institutions. Furthermore, this knowledge, experience and competence should be integrated into the daily work in the Treptow-Köpenick Borough Office. The administrative staff should be sensitized to new styles of thought and action, and they should be motivated to experience different approaches and solutions. Furthermore, this initiative is essential for creating and developing contacts with European partners which can provide the basis for transnational projects. Four administrative employees of our Borough Office have successfully made their internship in Szczecin, Belfast, Preston and Lyon. More information on the structure of the Polish, Northern Irish, English and French administrative departments, as well as several interesting information on EU funding and institutions which the trainees have known during their stay can be found here:

Based on these positive experiences, Treptow-Köpenick took part in the project ConAct Europe III - Qualification of executive managers for increasing European-related competence in 2009. The target was to qualify executive managers or junior managers through a four-week internship in foreign countries. Two colleagues from the Treptow-Köpenick Borough Office made their placements in the administration of Szczecin and one experienced executive manager from the education department made her placement in Preston (Lancashire).
