II. historical background
Neukölln, borough partner of Treptow in 1990, has already been twinned with Cologne for 23 years.
Through the initiative of the former borough mayor of Neukölln, the twinning between Cologne and Treptow has been established directly before the reunification of Germany for contributing to a better understanding between the Eastern and the Western part of Germany.
III. selected activities
since 1991: regular participation of the Cologne representatives at the Treptow summer festival; participation of
Treptow people at sports events in Cologne; presentation of the borough at the travel exhibition in Cologne;
participation at cultural activities; field excursions
2005: visit of a Cologne delegation for the Treptow festival
2006: visit of a delegation from Treptow-Köpenick in Cologne
2006: exhibition with paintings of Cologne artists in Treptow-Koepenick and reverse performance of musicians from
Cologne at the Jazz festival in Treptow-Koepenick
2009: participation in the "week of sister cities"
2011: mutual visits of political and administrative representatives in the two sister cities
