II. historical background

1992: The summit of Rio suggested the communities to participate in the "Agenda 21" and respectively to transact them. During the meetings the contact between the former mayors of Berlin-Koepenick and Cajamarca was established.

1994: The members of the borough assembly of Koepenick have decided to plan and to implement the "Local Agenda 21" including a collaboration with a town in a developing country.

1998: official signing ceremony of the partnership declaration between Berlin-Koepenick and Cajamarca
Cajamarca has been chosen because the city was among other things experienced in the implementation of the decisions of Rio.

2005: renovation of the partnership declaration in line with the visit of the mayor of Treptow-Koepenick in Cajamarca

2006: start of a school co-operation between "Anne-Frank-Schule" and a school in Cajamarca and as well exchange of experiences in the field of social-medical aspects

2006: expert visit of pedagogues from kindergartens in Treptow-Koepenick

2007: project "Humanitarian aid for rural population - empower for self help; a doctor and a dentist from Treptow-Koepenick have been in Cajamarca for six weeks for giving medical attendance to the poor people

2007: visit of eight students of the "Anne-Frank-Oberschule" in Cajamarca.

2007 to 2009: nine month missions of two volunteers from Treptow-Koepenick in the institution for handicaped people "Santa Dorotea" in Cajamarca

2008: 10th anniversary of the twinning: visit of the Mayor of Treptow-Koepenick in Cajamarca

2008: project humanitarian aid for working and street kids and for elderly, unprivileged people ("Feeding-programme") and for rural people

2008: internship of a student from Treptow-Koepenick in a partner kindergarten in Cajamarca

2009: visit from a delegation from Cajamarca on the occasion of the "week of sister cities"

2009: internship of a political science student in the administration of Cajamarca

2009: project humanitarian aid for rural people for elderly, unprivileged people and working kids - health education

2010: naming the place infront of the station Schöneweide in "Cajamarcaplatz"



2010: visit of eight students of the Colegio San Vicente de Paúl in Berlin and participating in the
"United Games" festival



2010: ten month mission of one volunteer from Treptow-Koepenick in the institution for handicaped
people "Santa Dorotea" in Cajamarc

2010: project humanitarian aid for rural people, for elderly and unprivileged people - health care



2011: 11 students of the Evangelisches Gymnasium Köpenick have done a three-week internship in Cajamarca.
The students worked in institutions for mentally and physically handicaped people
