location: Albinea is located in the rural district Reggio Emilia in a province in Northern Italy, Emilia-Romagna. Emilia extends rightward side of Po until Appenin. Cities aligned are among others: Parma, Bologna, Rimini. Capital of the region is Bologna.

II. History of the town twinning

historical background:

1944: execution of five German soldiers in the Villa Rossi in Albinea by the "Wehrmacht", among them Hans Schmidt from Treptow. For preparation the capitulation of the German headquarters, they contacted the Italian "Resistenza".

1995: Hans Schmidt and the four other killed soldiers have been nominated posthumus as honorary citizens on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Italian liberation.

development of the town twinning:

January 1997: The former mayor of Albinea, Vilmo Delrio, visited Treptow on the occasion of an exposition. During the conversation the idea of a town twinning has grown.

September 1997: signing of the partnership declaration in Albinea

III. selected activities

1999: visit of a theatre group from Altglienicke in Albinea

2000: exposition of the "art association Treptow" in Albinea German-Italian event in the arts club "Ratz-Fatz" during the annual summer festival "Treptower Festtage"; exposition "Walled in Berlin" in the town hall Treptow

since 2001: each year a group of representatives from both communities attends the annual summer festival in
Treptow-Koepenick respect. the commemoration ceremony in Villa Rossi in Albinea

2004: contacts between the middle school in Albinea and the Isaac Newton high school with common projects and mutual visits

2005: visit of the mayor of Albinea, Antonella Incerti, to the summer festival "Treptower Festtage"

2005: exhibition landscapes with paintings of artists from Albinea and from Treptow-Koepenick in the "Ratz Fatz"

2005: young people from Treptow Koepenick sport associations participated in the competition "Olympiad of the tricolor"

2006: exhibition with paintings of artists from Treptow-Koepenick in Albinea

2006 and 2007: mutual visits

2007 and 2008:



celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the twinning; Die project "10th anniversary of the twinning Treptow-Koepenick with Albinea" was supported by the "Europe for citizens" programme of the European Commission.



2009: participation in the "week of sister cities" and in the "United Games festival

2009: sports girls and sports boys from Treptow-Köpenick gained 17 medals in the international sports event
"4. Giochi del Tricolore"

2009: excursion of the history class of the school Merian-Schule to Albinea und environment

2010: participation of the mayor in the commemoration ceremony in the Villa Rossi in Albinea

2010: sportsmen and sportswomen of the Circolo Tennis Albinea are welcomed by the tennis club Treptower
Teufel e.V. in Berlin

2010: photo exhibition of the Circolo Degli Artisti from Reggio Emilia together with the Colorclub Berlin Treptow
